How the Service Works

What does CLPS do?

CLPS provides a managed lost property service for organisations.
We collect sealed bags, boxes or containers from your site, transport items to our secure warehouse, process them under CCTV, register and photograph each item, store them securely, review claims, verify ownership and support courier return options for verified owners.

Do you provide the containers?

Yes. CLPS provides bags, boxes or containers for found property. These are kept in a secure place on your site and used by your team to store items ready for collection.

How does the CLPS process work?

Your team places found items into CLPS-provided containers kept securely on site. When ready, the containers are sealed and CLPS is contacted for collection.
CLPS collects the sealed containers, processes the items under CCTV, registers and photographs them, stores them securely and then supports claim review, ownership verification and courier returns.

Do we need to process the items ourselves?

No. Your team places found items into CLPS-provided containers and seals them for collection. CLPS then processes the items at our secure warehouse, including registration and photography under CCTV.

Security and Storage

Where are items stored?

Items are transported to a secure CLPS warehouse, where they are stored for the agreed retention period.

Are items processed under CCTV?

Yes. Items are processed in a controlled warehouse environment under CCTV. They are registered, photographed and recorded so that claims can be reviewed against structured item information.

How long does CLPS hold items for?

CLPS can hold items securely for several months, depending on the agreed retention period and your organisation’s policy requirements.

Can CLPS handle valuable or sensitive items?

CLPS can support a controlled process for items such as phones, laptops, tablets, wallets, bags, keys, documents, payment cards and other valuable or data-bearing property.
Ownership verification is used before items are released.

Claims and Returns

Who handles lost property claims?

CLPS can review incoming claims against item records, photographs and supporting details. This helps reduce customer service workload for your internal teams.

How are items returned to owners?

Once ownership has been verified, CLPS supports the owner’s chosen courier delivery option so the item can be returned safely and conveniently.

How is ownership verified?

Before an item is released, CLPS checks that the claimant can reasonably verify ownership. This may include matching the claimant’s description, details or supporting information against the stored item record.

Does CLPS reduce customer service workload?

Yes. CLPS supports claim review, ownership verification and return arrangements, reducing the amount of time your teams spend answering enquiries, searching for items and arranging returns.

Sectors We Support

What types of organisations does CLPS support?

CLPS supports organisations that need a secure and efficient way to manage lost property, including transport operators, police forces, facilities management companies, security providers and public venues.

Do you work with police forces?

Yes. CLPS supports police forces with found property that may create storage pressure, public enquiries, ownership verification needs and risk around valuable or data-bearing items.

Do you work with transport operators?

Yes. CLPS supports transport operators that need to reduce passenger lost property workload across vehicles, stations, depots, hubs and customer service teams.

Do you work with facilities management and security companies?

Yes. CLPS can support FM and security companies directly, or through partner, reseller and OEM-style service models. This can help providers solve client lost property problems while creating a service add-on, potential revenue stream and rebate opportunity.

Costs and Benefits

How does CLPS help reduce costs?

CLPS helps reduce the staff time, storage space, customer service workload and return admin involved in managing lost property.
By collecting items from your site, storing them securely off-site and handling claim review and owner verification, CLPS reduces the day-to-day burden on your internal teams.

Can CLPS support multiple sites?

Yes. CLPS can support organisations with multiple locations, sites, stations, depots, venues or client premises. This is especially useful where lost property is currently handled inconsistently across different locations.

What internal teams can CLPS help?

CLPS can reduce workload for reception, security, facilities, customer service, operations, front counter, venue, transport and administrative teams.

Can CLPS help improve customer or visitor experience?

Yes. CLPS gives owners a clearer route to claim, verify and recover their property. This can reduce confusion, repeated contact and frustration when someone loses an important item.

Sustainability

Is CLPS a net zero service?

Yes. CLPS operates as a net zero service and works across collection, storage, processing and return activity to reduce environmental impact.

How does sustainability fit into lost property management?

Lost property management involves transport, storage, processing, customer support and returns. CLPS works across these areas to reduce impact and support a lower-carbon approach to lost property handling.

Do you provide CO₂ removal certificates?

Yes. Where applicable, CLPS provides CO₂ removal certificates for its own operations and client lost property activity. This can help support sustainability reporting and environmental accountability.
